NJ Mayor Apologizes to Staten Islanders

2008_07_siferry.jpgBelmar NJ mayor Ken Pringle printed his official apology to Staten Islanders, Italian-Americans and blondes this weekend (PDF), in hopes of quelling the outrage over his newsletter musing about aggressive Staten Island girls and others (Pringle claimed he was trying to be humorous). Still, some Staten Islanders visiting the Jersey shore made it a point not to frequent Belmar bar D'Jais, though one NY woman who wanted to stay past closing time yelled, "[Expletive] you, you Jersey [expletives]!" And the Post feels that Pringle "proved his elitist views" due to the delivered newspaper on his front step--it was the NY Times.

screw the people in nj and staten island, they are all brooklyn rejects.

He was right to apologize. You can't paint with that broad a brush even if the loudest and most visible Staten Islanders take it upon themselves to speak for the couple of others not like them.

Politicians are not allowed to generalize like that, and he should have known it... no matter how hilariously dead-on and enjoyable those observations are. Also, SI weenies should grow some skin.

Armchair, Brooklyn is now Midwest rejects. I'll welcome the Jersy and SI people back to Brooklyn immediately where they belong.

Wow!! What a surprise - yet more assholes insulting Staten Islanders.
