Gothamist: Strip Club Owner "Had No Respect" for Lap Dancers

I was a stripper for three years and my experienced totally changed my perception of the industry. "Respect for lap dancers" is laughable indeed. If a woman does not wanted to be treated disrespectfully or as property then she needs to find a job which deserves respect. A strip club owner is a glorified pimp. My club was also a front for drug trafficking and prostitution and the activity was flagrant and had been going on for decades. There were even two murders that took place in front of the club, one of which involved the gunning down of a drug dealer/pimp who did business in the club. In spite of the evidence the club was not implicated. So when I hear about the occasional bust like this one I have to wonder what the real story is, i.e. the owner failing to pay off a certain mobster or city official. I sincerely doubt it had anything to do with failure to observe the law since it is clear that none of these places do.

They say he's the "king of nuisance lawsuits". Case in point; he sued his then-4-year-old son's elementary school for $16 million, for "letting him run out of class". Oh, yeah and there's VoterMarch.com. Whether we legalize it or not, they should still put the spot light on this litigious, jerky, slovenly, misogynistic fraud.

One of the co-workers' asks for a show of support for the arrestees at Baxter & Centre streets. 9:00am, Monday, July 21st. ... we are night-owls - nobody wants to wake up that early. AND ESPECIALLY: None of these workers want to wake-up that early in the morning to get dragged into court ... So let me get this straight, I should show up at 9am because you don't want to wake up to get to court by 10?

One of the co-workers' asks for a show of support for the arrestees at Baxter & Centre streets. 9:00am, Monday, July 21st. Thursday night. 12 - 15 vice cops swamped the midtown loft: throwing open bathroom doors, telling guys and gals to go to seperate rooms, did background checks, took photos of the loft, took photos of workers, questioned everyone, cuffed all staff, cuffed several dancers. Everyone was held for 2 to 3 hours. All who went into work Thursday night are facing harsh charges. Approximately 21 people were taken under police custody that night. Many spent the night in jail. Many others received orders to be in court MONDAY, JULY 21 at 10 am. No customers are being asked to report to court and no customers are facing any charges. PLEASE come to NYC court house at 9 am to set up a demo to show support to those people, my co-workers, that are facing harsh charges and a slew of lies being thrown in their face - - such is the case in these situations, as far too many of us know. Trust me, these are my co-workers - we are night-owls - nobody wants to wake up that early. AND ESPECIALLY: None of these workers want to wake-up that early in the morning to get dragged into court and face their fate given to them by the state. PLEASE COME OUT and show support for these people. It is so important to know you are not alone. Going into court is so incredibly scary - especially for the list of charges they may be charged with.

The News describes the private rooms as "half-dozen curtained cubicles, each with a narrow bed, desk and a box of tissues." What in the name of God would they need a desk for?
