Most players are only in NYC temporarily.

Exactly my point. Most players play for any team temporarily. So it's silly to be cheering "Go New York" when they're not really New Yorkers and never will be. Just a bunch of hired guns and whether they win or lose means nothing to me.

Most players are only in NYC temporarily. Only a very select few play for one team their entire lives, like Yaz, Brett etc.

More to your point, Beltran, Delgado, Santana etc wear a Mets uniform, and I support Mets baseball no matter where the players come from.

If they're cheaters, abusers, etc I draw the line but that's it.

Huh. I don't follow sports, but it seems like the Great American Pastime is becoming the Great Pan-American Pastime at least for the Yankees, judging from all the names above. Cano, Cabrera, Molina, Rivera. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it just makes taking these games as seriously as many fans do that much sillier. These guys are no reflection on New York. They weren't born here or raised here. They're just here for the money and the moment someone gives them more to play for another team, the same rabid fans will root against them. Why aren't Gothamist trolls complaining about the sports "transplants," especially since they're only in NYC temporarily?
