Scary: Two Bronx residents were subjected to police raids (in one case, a 69-year-old cancer survivor was thrown to the floor and handcuffed, in the other, the cops threatened to arrest a single mother's father), but it turned out they were innocent and had nothing to do with the "sale of crack cocaine," which is what the cops had warrants for. WABC 7's Eyewitness News questioned the NYPD, which in turn ended up arresting the police informant who gave the fake information. According to WABC 7, the information was charged with perjury and seven cases he helped out with are now facing review. Back in 2003, a 57-year-old Harlem grandmother died when the police mistakenly stormed her home in a no-knock raid.

another reason why I like JC,
thanks for taking the time to post this.
in the second raid, I think they were lucky not to have been home. I bet they get a kick out of ransacking a house with the residents present.
So how much longer are we going to have to put up with the crime against humanity which is the Drug War?
The best penalty for this informant would be to let him back out on the streets and tell the dealers he ratted on know where he is.
"tell the dealers he ratted on know where he is."
That'd be a better plan if he'd ratted on actual dealers.
Good to see that police continue to maintain high standards and check out their sources, instead of relying on a single felon's word before illegally obtaining a search warrant and knocking down someone's door!
Maybe the same people running this operation were also running the "Sean Bell strip-club Sting". But I'm sure Ray Kelly will have something good to say about them....
not just the police but the judge who rubber stamped two search warrants.
oh and again the cops don't care, the settlement is not coming out of their pension. no drug war, no more need for narcotics bureaus and their related support services, from the ADA to the judges.
Yeah, the Drug War has its own ecology and nobody who feeds off its excesses wants for it to end. As long as some kid out there is smoking or inhaling something, there'll be a guy at a Hilton Garden Inn somewhere using an overhead projector to sell test strips.
