TKTS Brooklyn Open for Discount Theater Tickets

071808discount.jpgA Brooklyn TKTS – the discount Broadway and Off-Broadway ticket booth – was recently unveiled at MetroTech Center in downtown Brooklyn at the corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue.

Though it won’t be open on weekends like the Manhattan TKTS locations, it will give Brooklyn playgoers the edge on weekdays, when it opens a full four hours ahead of the Times Square TKTS, which is currently operating at the Marriot Marquis while the new Duffy Square development slowly nears completion.

The Brooklyn TKTS will also sell discount tickets to Brooklyn arts events, like productions at BAM. But Brooklyn Paper has it that the first customer at the booth’s opening on July 10th wasn’t interested in any artsy Next Wave-type nonsense – Carroll Gardens resident Josh Huttenbach was observed buying tickets to Legally Blonde, which he swore were for his daughters, who were conspicuously absent. [TKTS Brooklyn is open Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 6 pm, and accepts all major credit cards.]

I think they should try to bring TKTs outlets to other boroughs....perhaps on certain days, to drive in residents who have never seen a Bway show.

Fucking useless. TKTS opens seven minutes from my apartment, but it's only open during hours and days when I'm guaranteed to be at work. Thanks for nothing.

Doesn't TKTS mostly cater to tourists anyway? They don't have to go to work. Besides, just call in sick one morning if you're that desperate.
