The latter is a local chamber group, they'll be opening the show with The Rite: Remixed, "a new arrangement and imagining of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. And you already know Deerhoof, right? THEATER: East 14th: True Tales of a Reluctant Player is a critically-acclaimed, autobiographical one-man comedy by Don Reed, who chronicles his childhood flight from his step-father to his biological father’s home on the other side of Oakland in the ‘70s. Once settled in, it becomes apparent that his “real pop is a real pimp...for real,” and his introduction to the world of drugs and hookers begins. The Times says, “It’s hard not to love 1970s funk and soul, and Don Reed effectively conjures the music and the era.” Watch a video preview here. – John Del Signore

For the first time in history, a different type of court will grace Arthur Ashe Stadium at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing. Instead of players like Maria Sharipova, Serena and Venus Williams, and Elena Dementieva on the tennis court, the New York Liberty and Indiana Fever will tip off on the basketball court in the Liberty Outdoor Classic. The hardwood is in place for the history making event as the two teams will play in the WNBA's first regular-season outdoor game. - Tien Mao

php3GJcQbAM.jpgMUSIC: If the Siren Fest doesn't ware you out, head over to the after party! Marnie Stern and A Place to Bury Strangers open the night, with Apes & Androids headlining. You won't want to miss the extravaganza those guys bring to the stage every time they perform, it may be the only time they do it this summer. Last time around (pictured) there were confetti cannons, monsters, and a full choir singing "Hey Jude."

A carnival theme prevails in the little JJ Byrne Park where the play is performed – show up 45 minutes prior to participate in “games of chance.” Ends tonight! – John Del Signore
