Everyone Loves the Story of the Beagle Who Returned

2008_07_pupbeag.jpgThere are few things more heartwarming than hearing about a dog who was returned to his rightful owners after 5 years (and over a distance of 850 miles, thanks to a microchip), and the press naturally descended upon Rocco the beagle. The dog had gotten out of his Queens backyard, and it's suggested someone in the military took the dog from the Big Apple down to Georgia, where he was found. Eleven-year-old Natalie Villacis, who was 5 when Rocco went missing, told the Post , "I don't think he recognized me, but I told him I loved him as much as always. Rocco seemed a little confused, but happy. He looked at me like, 'I don't know who you are, but I love you, too.'" AW!

I don't much care for beagles.

"First we'll microchip the pets, pretty soon our children, and eventually EVERYONE will be microchipped, it's a BRAVE NEW WORLD."

    Paranoid much, huh?

Homeward Bound would've been such an anti-climactic movei with the existence of microchips.

Yeah, it's supercute--I love how she believes that "God understood" her and that her wishes were heard. And Rocco seemed really happy with all the attention.

That dog is so cute. The video on the Post's website is worth watching--the little girl is just adorable. She always held out hope that Rocco would come back! Aww!
