Randi Weingarten, who has led the United Federation of Teachers, the union that representing over 200,000 people who work in the schools (from teachers to nurses), was elected to lead the national teacher's union, the American Federation of Teachers, yesterday. Weingarten ran unopposed and has made it clear she wants to revoke the No Child Left Behind law, suggesting instead that schools should help the entire family, through a range of social services, to improve students' chances at success.

Well she didn't get to be Hillary's Education Sec, so she ran for this awhile back.
corrupt
@fugothamist
She is a political creature, yes corrupt. That does not negate her proposal as without merit. Clearly services to children and families need to be greater and more orchestrated for better overall results.
No Child Left Behind has been a disaster for public education. The sooner it's revoked, the better.
"schools should help the entire family" LOL. If kids were learning anything in Randi's schools, education would've been considered helpful in ameliorating lives of many. Weingarten first & only loyalty/ priority is her union.
Private & charter schools are the only way to go.
Teachers should be paid $300,000 per year, have irrevocable tenure, have so many certifications that no neophyte could possibly muscle in on the action, and be impossible to remove even if their students actually regress under their liberal, anti-male, blatantly political tutelage."
5 & 6: Spoken like true, private school, trust fund babies. And by babies I mean assholes.
Get rid of NCLB! Fast!
