George Steinbrenner enters Yankee Stadium and is greeted by Reggie Jackson and Yogi Berra
Before the start of the 79th Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, there was one surprise in a heavily scripted pre-game celebration. Yankees principal owner George Steinbrenner made an appearance on the field, handing out the balls for the ceremonial first pitch. The Boss made his way from the outfield via golf cart and handed balls to Reggie Jackson, Goose Gossage, Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra. This was a rare public appearance by Steinbrenner, who has remained outside the public eye for much of the past two years.

.....Blubbering
In other news, if Bob Sheppard couldn't get there for this it must be really bad.
Ariel Sharon actually looks better than him.
...and then he went back to his corner and drooled in his cup.
Gotta love those Yankee fans-- they're such gracious hosts. :P They boo all the National League players because they're National League, and they boo all the American League players because they're not Yankees.
the whole thing was embarrasing for new york.
at what poing will you idiots realize that the rest of the nation does no need or want your bravado?
@drtmuir--the subway was insane tonight... the Yankees fans screaming at people who were wearing different teams' baseball caps. I really wanted to yell "Yankees suck!" for the hell of it but decided against it because I wanted to make it home.
because you're corny and not from here. bye.
That's sad Jen,
The insane of New York running the asylum.
I feel sorry for non New Yorkers as you mentioned
getting ridiculed for supporting their BB club.
why won't this game end????????????
at what poing will you idiots realize that the rest of the nation does no need or want your bravado?
They realize it and don't care.
LOL
I bet there will be riots in the Bronx tonight!!!
@Jen
I was at the Homerun Derby Monday night with a die-hard Red Sox fan. He was talking trash the whole time, and the 4 train home was an interesting ride to say the least.
On another note, I've never seen so much white trash in one consolidated area ever on Yankee Stadium. It was kind of sad.
Yankee fans and Sox fans are pretty much the same, as horrified as they would be to hear it. The only big difference is latitude.
I tried to watch the ASG for awhile, but was disgusted by the Yankee fans turning it into a Yankees Nuremberg Rally.
