Carroll Gardens: Prepare to be Viacomed

0807real3rd.jpgHas MTV's The Real World faked out Brooklyn? First they're all but confirmed to move into Downtown Brooklyn's BellTell Lofts, with rumors of a Carroll Gardens residence quickly disappearing, but now an intern says the show "may not even film there because they were having some issues with the BellTel Lofts building with the location at 116 Third Place in Carroll Gardens as the backup." Residents beware! The Real Deal all but confirms the Carroll Gardens locale, saying that "equipment that will be used for the show's filming has been transported from BellTel to the new location." Curbed warns of the inevitable protests, message board madness, and dare we say riots that the show will be met with in the neighborhood. It's gonna be so real.

UPDATE: Curbed is reporting on a rumor that The Real World is now moving to...Red Hook!

I like the gardens its a nice quite neighborhood in BK. But I would love to see more drama so I would love these kids to move to redhook or the Bushwick(IE Williamsburg south as the real estate agents call its funny the natives call it Bushwick). My question or concern is how will Carol gardens, deal with the 20 somethings from the the all over the U.S coming and getting drunk, being loud, getting arrested and every thing else you need to make a real world.

This would be HORRIBLE. I've lived on 4th Place/Court St. for nearly ten years now. Even if it's just for a few months, the chaos this would bring to the nieghborhood would be over the top.

Throw them up in Billyburg, please!

let's see, if these d-bags act in any way like they did during the Hollywood season, I think there will be riots.

I'm hoping for another roidy alchy *crosses fingers*

Agreed! Carroll Gardens is a neighborhood mostly made up of old-school Italians who have lived there forever and 30-somethings, most married or living with long-term partner, lots with kids. It makes no sense to have Real World there.

Put em in Brownsville and lets see those doughy, hair gelled midwestern frat boys tore up by reality.

those idiots will be getting drunk on Smith Street every night!

Although CG is brimming with hipsters, it is a very quiet neighborhood. I suspect they will be on F train to Manhattan quite a bit.

apparently The Real World doesn't use union labor.
apparently this is what prohibited them from filming in Philly.

Anyone wanna join me in contacting the Teamsters and other local unions to protest this shit?
Let's see them try to edit out the giant inflatable rat from their exterior shots.

No, they are not going to be taking the subway anywhere. MTV/Viacom is going to give them a "real pimp ride" (some excessive truck) and they're going to do a lot of sitting on the BQE engaged in the ever-present discourse about relationships.

Further, expect that they'll have some shitty business to run into the ground (boutique? record store? bar?) and it will be right on smith street.

I predict there will be neighbors outside protesting at some point and when that happens, the guy with the bandanna around his head all the time (the one with the big ugly gilded glasses, too) will be the one to start throwing eggs and then joke about throwing his excretions, the others will join in (so disrespectful).

Cut to the pretty girls with insufferable emotional problems telling their screaming boyfriends that they made out with the guy with the bandanna.

Then everybody off to the shower for some group water sports (how edgy the youth is, today).

I don't even know why they bother filming this crap...

Put 'em up in "South" Williamsburg and let the Trinitarios have at them.
