Mayor Bloomberg said today he thought the off-duty police detective--whose blood alcohol was 0.10, above the 0.08 limit--who fired back at a suspect "acted correctly." The Post reports the mayor gave his comments during a press conference on a different topic. He was asked about the shooting and said, "I clearly think the officer did the right thing. Having said that, it is up to [Police Commissioner Ray Kelly]. He will do a thorough investigation and then make a decision." Bloomberg pointed out the officer, in trying to stop attackers from beating someone and was fired upon, "saw something where people's lives were threatened and he took appropriate action to stop that."

guess he learned his lesson from the Sean bell incident not to stray from the party line.
I can't believe this is even an issue.
^It's not an issue. Anyone can go out, have a few drinks, and confront a scene like that officer did. What would one do? Nothing? Because one fears the fallout of having a few drinks? That cop did the right thing and Bloomberg saw through the rest of the crap and recognized that. Good show all around.
but when one of us REGULAR CITIZENS blow a .10 BAC, yep, we'll get off too.
