Williamsburg Gang Warfare Meets YouTube
The NY Post reports that "felonious assaults were up 21 percent as of July 6, compared to the same time period in 2007" in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. On the topic of the recent stabbings, the article quotes a 17-year-old student from the area who claims much of the violence is from "warring youth gangs, largely Hispanic, [who] cross a Brooklyn-Queens Expressway line of demarcation and prey upon each other." The Saturday stabbing was reportedly carried out by a South Side Williamsburg gang called the Trinitarios. These guys are known to trash talk via raps on YouTube; it's just like West Side Story...but with machetes and real blood.

Even if this did happen in "South Williamsburg" -- and I'm with brandonz on that score -- The Trinitarios aren't "a South Williamsburg gang." Reportedly, in fact, the organization was started in the Marcy Houses (and not even the real estate people are calling that Williamsburg yet). They're well established throughout NYC as well as in several other states, and have a strong presence in the prison system.

The best thing is that it took two reporters to compile that in-depth report.

The video was posted 2 years ago and is hosted at uk.youtube.com, note the UK part. I'm not sure how youtube sorts it videos, if it's by IP or just user specified lcoation but this may not be Williamsburg. I don't recognize the streets, but I also don't know that many around here.

while it's naive to move to nyc and not be aware of a raised element of danger, even in more gentrified neighborhoods, it's also naive to think that NYC is the only dangerous city in the country. there are shady (much shadier, actually) neighborhoods all across the country. contrary to popular belief, new york didn't invent crime.

As long as you, or someone you know isn't in the gang D.D.P. (Dominicans Don't Play) then you will not get stabbed. In all recent readings and reports (circa 2006) the majority, if not all Trinitarios related stabbings have been against rival gangs.
Word to the wise: If you don't want to get in to trouble, or stabbed then stay away from Dominican Flag Colored clothing and don't act cute by throwing up 7s. If you heed my advice then you can just sit in the air conditioned bars and drink Pabst without a care in the world.
However, if you are looking to join Trinitarios, D.D.P. or even Netas you can find members simply by entering the gang names in any Youtube or Myspace search field. It's good to see they are keeping their illegal activities secret. Trinitarios don't care what color or creed you are, Anyone can join! So they have that going for them, which is nice.
