Last Night's Action: It All Comes Back to Nine

• Mets 7, Rockies 0: Break up the Mets!. Mike Pelfrey dominated, each half of brothers Carlos went deep and the Mets won their ninth straight game. This game did snap the Mets' Major League record streak of five straight games allowing three hits or fewer. The Mets will take it.

  They enter the All-Star break as hot as they've been in two years. Their four shutouts in the last six games is the best such stretch since 1969, when they did something special. They're a half-game behind the Phillies in the National League East. Naysayers will point out they have done it against two of the worst teams in baseball, but that doesn't matter at this point since half the National League falls into that description.
  

• Blue Jays 4, Yankees 1: Andy Pettitte said the Yankees "stink right now." He's right. Of course, his allowing a three-run home run to Marco Scutaro didn't help matters. A.J. Burnett has great stuff, but he only pitches well against the Yankees it seems. Jason Giambi's late homer was the only offense for the Yankees, who have four days off before resuming their season at the Yankee Stadium.
