Grandmother Swears She's No Hooker, Just Asthmatic

2008_07_walking.jpgAn officer with a history of false arrest is being accused of more of the same by a 40-year-old grandmother in Sunset Park. Monica Gonzalez tells the Daily News she was walking four blocks from her apartment to the E.R. during an asthma attack at 2:30 in the morning last November when she was arrested by Officer Sean Spencer, who claimed she was holding a condom and approaching vehicles with another woman. (Gonzalez's lawyer never found evidence of the supposed condom.) The charges were finally dropped in May and now Gonzalez, who works as a receptionist, has filed a formal complaint with the city’s Law Department.

so I suppose if he saw a group of people doing outreach handing out bags of condoms, lubricant and dental dams he would consider that soliciting?

  • NannyState

Any woman walking around using a condom as an inhaler...should be arrested anyway.

Well, this sounds unfortunate, but I'm sure there's some way we can make it Ms. Gonzalez's fault.

She should thank him for not beating the shit out of her. I thought that's what normally happens.

being 40 hasn't qualified for granny status since the 1800's.

Wasn't that a song by Jeff Beck?

    "She's not a hooker, she's just asthmatic..."

Being a 40-year old grandmother should be illegal.

How does an officer with a record for false arrest keep his job? I guess the same way a cop who shoots someone in a fit of road rage and disappears for 24 hours gets away with murder.

Geez, if i were a hooker, i don't think i'd be waving condoms around. just like if i were a drug dealer, i wouldn't be waving bags of crack around...but for some reason these officer testimonies seem to indicate that it happens much more than would be expected. Gooo figure.

  • citizenerased

Yeah, surely history of false arrest (or, doing the opposite of what you're supposed to be doing) is grounds for dismissal.

Sounds like the rogue cop in California that keeps trying to bust marijuana dispensaries. He should be fired and watched like a hawk for retaliatory actions.
