Fleet Foxes Seem Nice
Fleet Foxes came to town this week, riding a wave of slightly understated buzz into a sold-out Bowery Ballroom. The band was excellent, playing jams off their critically acclaimed record and constantly thanking the crowd for showing them so much love. Those in attendance were remarkably supportive of the act, especially considering the often indifferent attitude our local crowds often take. Between songs, they hooted and hollered from the first note, while staying deathly silent during -- letting the band's complicated harmonies and mellow sounds shine through. While frontman Robin Pecknold was a little under the weather, with a brutal cough during breaks, you could never tell from listening to them. It was about as close to perfect as a show at Bowery could be. A great first impression for a stunning new band.

Stuy Town Concert Series Goes Indie
Just what long-time residents of the East Village's upscale housing project were hoping for: An excuse for more rambunctious twenty-somethings to play on their lawn! Hipster buzz band High Places set up shop for the Stuyvesant Town concert series, Music on the Oval, last week. Fun for young and old alike, the duo did their beepity boop thing for the curious residents. While the community might be best known these days for it's feud between the young, wealthy market-raters and the old school rent stabilized tenants, this series of free concerts is doing it's part to bring the residents together to enjoy the grounds they're forced to share. And this video is priceless.

Siren Schedule Released
All of a sudden, it's July! And that means the Siren Fest is almost upon us. If you just want a hot dog and a spin on the Cyclone, get it out of your system today, because next weekend you’ll have to fight through tens of thousands of hot and cranky Pavement fans. This week, the Voice released the official schedule to the fest so you can get an idea of what you'll be forced to miss as you jump back and forth from Stillwell to 10th. While it looks like you'll be able to catch at least a bit of each band, the main stage has a habit of running late at these things, so be sure to factor that in. See the sched here.
