Aside from the music, this evening's Bon Jovi concert on Central Park's Great Lawn will be different from the regular Metropolitan Opera or NY Philharmonic concert-- primarily because of the things one won't be able to bring into the park. While security is generally laissez-faire towards alcohol and food at the classical music events, today's free show is another story. Ticket holders will not be allowed to bring strollers, umbrellas, alcohol, cameras, backpacks, large bags, coolers, glass or metal containers, recording devices, and, of course, weapons. With people lining up hours before the start of the show to get a good vantage point (gates open at 2 p.m., show begins at 8 p.m.), it should be a long hot day for many. Hope you lucky ones have your sunscreen.

Another "don't" -- Bon Jovi's hair.
Hoooooooooooo!
Another "don't" -- going to a Bon Jovi concert.
Not going. Holding out for the Sigue Sigue Sputnik reunion tour. Fewer people, more hair, less Locklear angst.
Why do middle aged male rock stars always end up with the hair of a middle aged suburban housewife? The older they get, the more they resemble unattractive older women trying to look young!
The only rocker who got the hair thing right - Lars and James of Metallica. They knew when to let the locks go.
No cameras? Who are they kidding?
What is a Bon Jovi? A dance group?
hmmm. how did major league baseball get a permit for the great lawn. Didn't the city say that groups over 10,000 (or what ever it was) posed a threat to the security and safety of us all around the time of the RNC convention 4 years ago???
and Bon Jovi?
what year is this?
and BTW all those people lined up for iphones or broadway tickets, they are breaking that law they made up to bust critical mass.
won't hear about that on 4 new york
and rosweed Sigue Sigue Sputnik will be in some park in Rutherford, nj for the MLS fanfest in mid August
ok maybe not, its in Toronto - come on you Irons
was there tonight -- watched JBJ from a makeshift jumbotron (minitron?), but the best entertainment came from the cops handcuffing a drunk guy right in front of us.
the great lawn now allows up to 50,000 people on the lawn. the other 25k people were sent to other areas of the park to watch the concert on big screens.
during the dave mattews concert over 80,000 people congregated on the lawn causing over $100,000 in damage to the grass.
the RNS protestors didn't have a permit and were rejected.
paul simon's concert in the park drew over 600,000 people... the most ever.
clearly protesters just need get corporate sponsors and a permit would have been given.
