A very, very nice guy... he did a signing at a mall in the 'burbs and I took my brother, who had just broken his arm playing ball. When we got up to the table, he took one look at him and said, "How'd you hurt your arm?" When he told him he played, Murcer stopped and chatted for a few minutes, even though he had many more signers waiting. They talked about playing ball, what position he played, how we had seen him play, etc etc. Nothing earth-shattering, but more than just the time of day you get from most signings. Just a good guy.

Like you said, NannyState... I hate cancer...

RIP Murcer. Thank you for the great memories for being an announcer and a Yankee baseball player.

Throughout his whole ordeal, he still had class and strength. he thanked the fans, and it sounded like he accepted as much one can accept his disease.
he mentioned the disease changed him and I'm guessing in a good way. I didn't see him crying.
god damn you cancer, you won't take me like that, I have Pb.

As much as I hate the Yanks, you couldn't hate Bobby Murcer. At one point he was the only good player on some really bad Yankee teams... He was always classy and an underrated ballplayer. RIP.
