Despite our shameless last-minute plug for David Wright and Jason Giambi, neither of them made the 2008 All-Star Team in their respective league. The winners for the Final Vote were outfielder Corey Hart of the Brewers and Rays third baseman Evan Longoria. Hart presumably benefited from the Milwaukee's "I Hart NY" campaign while Longoria must have traded on Mrs. Tony Parker's fame.

Longoria will have many more appearances in his career as an All Star.
It is ironic that the winners of the All-Star popularity contest have names similar to celebrities: Corey "Sunglasses at Night" Hart and Eva "Desperate Housewives" Longoria.
However, both Hart and Longoria are rising stars in baseball, and deserving of their honor.
Media capital of the world New York, represented by Wright and Giambi, did not win this contest, although both players are also deserved their all-star consideration.
