Midweek End to Mugginess

wxch_dew0707.jpgCloudy and humid with a chance of afternoon showers continues to be the local weather story this week. Today will have a near normal high of 82, while tomorrow and Wednesday will be warmer. Tuesday should top out in the upper 80s and Wednesday may reach the low 90s.

When the air gets so muggy and warm there's always a chance of a shower or thunderstorm, especially in the afternoon or evening. The best chance of rain this week will be Wednesday evening, when a cold front finally arrives to push the tropical air away for a few days. Thursday through Saturday are expected to be much dryer. The end of the week should feature mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the 60s.

Out in the middle of the Atlantic, Bertha has become the first hurricane of the 2008 season. Big Bertha is currently moving northwest toward the Carolinas but she will most likely take a northerly turn way before coming close to shore.

Um, if you're going to report on the weather, it might be helpful to know the word is "drier," not "dryer."
