Improv Everywhere: Human Mirror (Twins on the Train)

The latest happening from the pranksters at Improv Everywhere – masters at getting weird looks from people as they plug in big desktop computers at Starbucks, flood Abercrombie & Fitch with shirtless average Joes, and (the best) freeze in Grand Central – is all about twins. Organizers recruited nine sets of identical twins in matching outfits to ride the 6 train uptown, sit across from each other and mirror each other's gestures. It's not The Shining, but bemused looks ensue.

You all are too young to remember the Patty Duke show, in which a youthful Patty Duke played "identical cousins."

and how about that memorable theme song:

    MichaelH:

I've never in my life had something inconvenience me about improve everywhere. I think most of their stuff wouldn't inconvenience people at all unless they choose to watch. If it gets people out of their everyday stupor, then I'm supportive. But that's my opinion.

(I think it's more than out of work comedians, their email list is massive).

Smacking these turds upside the head would cause me great joy, you can keep the chaos.

  • driftwood: The problem I and a lot of people have with these eejits is the presumption IE seems to have that we need them to provide us with "chaos and joy," that without a disruptive band of out-of-work comics ruining our commutes, we would be completely incapable of providing "chaos and joy" for ourselves.

I have long, wonderful dreams of infiltrating that group of gaytards and blowing an elaborate prank just as it's about to climax after weeks of careful planning. But then I go back to having a life.

Most of improve everywhere mission's are pointless, they're not really supposed to be funny. Their site says they're supposed to cause "chaos and joy".

Mainly they're just trying to add an amount of surrealism to everyday life. So stop being party poopers.

  • fishfryin

that one was pointless. it would have been way better if they did it at night and get the reactions of drunk and high people

  • matty

These are so fing stupid. All of them. Not one is funny. Most are just obnoxious.

    Call me a hater.

no, because clearly it was planned. i'll stab you all.

  • dimshine

that wouldn't work with my dead fetus twin inside me, would it?

  • dbc

My mom is an identical twin--I just told her about it and she thought it was great!

    I liked it, too.

  • S.D.

Being an Identical Twin myself: That was great.

    ;)
