Waiters Cry Harassment After Tip Lawsuit

2008_07_waiter.jpgRestaurant workers seem increasingly ready to hit their employers with lawsuits over tips – Buddha Bar and Tao are two of the latest to have their Zen calm shattered. But owners are also fighting back even after they lose, as three waiters at the Old Homestead Steakhouse are finding out. After winning $36,000 in a lawsuit over ripped-off tips, they’re suing their bosses again for harassment. The main gripe is that they’ve been punished by getting assigned to tables with the worst tippers: Europeans. And on top of all that, the $81 hamburger’s been taken off the menu!

Dude69: I hate little punk-ass beotches like you who complain about waiters standing up for themselves. You should count your blessings that I don't run into you in the street and kick your no-social-analysis-skillz ass. Hate the over-priced restaurants, fine. Hate the avg working man, your chump ass is mine.

I hate when waiters and bartenders complaining about tips when there's obviously a recession going on. They should count their blessings that people actually still dine out at over priced restaurants and paying $10 for a bottle of beer, instead of spending a night at home with a six pack from a bodega and Chinese takeouts. I see many of these over-hyped restaurants closing during the rest of the year, then they can complain about how small their unemployment checks are.

I spent over a week tipping 20% at restaurants throughout the UK before learning that the standard tip there is 10%. Oops.

This is why Europeans are bad tippers; many of them probably come over here equally unprepared for the change in tipping standards.

Don't blame this on Europeans. Americans tip like idiots anyway. Build proper compensation into salary structure.

Are you saying my idea for opening a restaurant called "Jesus Frites" is a bad move?

Christ's Curds are great. Don't knock them until you try them.

Here's a tip. If you go into a bar or restaurant with a huge buddha or "ZEN" all over the place. Walk the fuck out! Buddha Bar, Tao, and Sea Thai are like the olive garden's of asian food. Like olive garden is like eating in the private kitchen of a racist Italian stereotype. so are these places. Buddhism is a religion. It's denigrating to use it as a marketing tool to sell food. Imagine if they tried to sell cottage cheese using the cross of christ?
