The firm attached to the South Street Seaport makeover, SHoP Architects, has released some new images of their vision. Curbed approves, and gets "a better feel for the layout of the proposed new Seaport" through the images of the model -- they also urge community members to ditch the mall and get on board, though it's likely many fear the waterview-blocking 42-story tower in the proposal.

Why is everyone up in arms about the tower blocking the view? The only view it's going to block is from an office building.

the tower is going to be on a pier - that means that anyone walking on the bike/ped trail, running parallel to the FDR, will not be able to see the manhattan side of the brooklyn bridge. it will also block sightlines from ferrys and other boats going around battery park toward the mouth of the east river. it would be a shame to lose the majestic view of the most famous bridge in america.
