Pencil This In

0807feelies.jpgMUSIC: Make the journey over to Jersey for a night with The Feelies. In April we talked to the leader of that band, Glenn Mercer, and he told us they would be reuniting after having held some practices at his house. Tonight, it all goes down at Maxwell's.

9 p.m. // Maxwell's [1039 Washington St, Hoboken] // $25

YOGA: Kick your shoes off (don't worry about that silly bacteria) and sink your feet into some after work yoga. A class in Central Park offers esoteric Hatha Yoga which will help you "learn the deeper connection between asanas and the 7 chakras, flows of energy and power of mental concentration." Practice is suitable for experienced yogis and beginners.

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. // Central Park Sheep Meadow // Free

EVENT: The Whig and Masque Revue invites you to Dance With Your Demons tonight. To back up a bit, there's a new social networking site in town "that gives people a space where they can overcome their personal obstacles and make their dreams come true." It comes with a monthly masquerade that entails "anonymously submitting your secret and dream, then we're going to use them to make a whole lot of amazing things happen." Sort of cryptic and confusing, but perhaps things will all be cleared up tonight at the White Rabbit.

7 p.m. // White Rabbit [145 Houston St] // $5

THEATER: One of the most highly anticipated productions of the summer is the U.S. premiere of Sam Shepard’s Kicking a Dead Horse at the Public Theater. In it, Irish actor Stephen Rea plays an art dealer trying to reconnect with the land by selling his Manhattan penthouse and riding off in search of the mythical West. According to this great Village Voice cover story on Sam Shepard, the world premiere in Dublin was a hit; if it’s as well-received here when reviews come out on the 15th, getting tickets will be tough. – John Del Signore

7 p.m. // The Public Theater [425 Lafayette St] // $60

No, don't make the journey over to Jersey for a night with The Feelies. Both shows have been sold out forever. Come ON.
