2008_07_bloombonjovi2.jpgYesterday came the announcement of a free concert that would be held on Central Park's Great Lawn this month featuring Mr. Jon Bon Jersey himself (now a Manhattanite). Today more details about the July 12th show and how to procure your golden tickets are unveiled via Bon Jovi's official website. Essentially, tickets will be made available at every major, and some minor baseball stadiums beginning July 2nd. Starting at 9 a.m. that day Bon Jovi fans will descend upon Yankee, Shea, KeySpan Park and the Staten Island Yankees stadiums...get more details here if you want to be one of them. And note that tickets will also will be available in Manhattan at DHL All-Star FanFest at the Jacob K. Javits Center on Friday, July 11th.

Bloomberg announced the free summer show in a speech sprinkled with classic Bon Jovi song titles (video).

"All-Star Summer is set to hit New York City in a few weeks, and the lineup of festivities just added another future hall-of-famer in Bon Jovi. The free concert in Central Park is going to help make this year's All-Star Summer a celebration to remember. The 2008 All-Star Game will pay tribute to the storied history of Yankee Stadium, and Bon Jovi will help us ensure it goes out in a blaze of glory, hopefully a blaze in late October."
Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe added: "Live music and Central Park go together like baseball and hot dogs." Unlike political protests and Central Park, which will definitely ruin the manicured Kentucky bluegrass lawns.

WAIT! We can't have all those people on the Great Lawn! It'll ruin the grass!

Assholes.

I really wanna lay my hands on these tickets. I'll be living on a prayer that they are still available. Guess I'll have to runaway from work in a blaze of glory to get there in time. All I gotta do til tomorrow is keep the faith.

woh, got a little carried away there.

The Bon Jovi site redirects users to MLB.com for ticket info.

"A ticket is required to attend the concert. Go to MLB.com for more information about the concert."

Ah, the Major League Baseball All Star Game. When players from different leagues, alien to each other throughout the long regular season, meet for that rare one game inter-league competition between the white lines, and try to prove which league is superior.

Oh wait - we just finished a month of regular season inter-league play! So the All Star Game has essentially lost it's luster. Kind of like Bon Jovi.

Jon Bon Jovi's hair is a little runaway.

i liked when Bloomie said Simon and Garfinkle

Yes, the assholes will mess up the grass. And for what? A Bon Jovi concert? Oh joy!

grass grows back, and spilling miller lite all over it makes it grow back faster. stop whining.

Is it my imagination, or do those two kind of look alike?
