Paterson Recovering After Cataract Surgery

2008_06_dpater.jpgGovernor David Paterson says he's doing fine after cataract surgery yesterday at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. WNBC caught up with him after the 90-minute procedure, and the Governor urged everyone to have their cataracts removed, since it's such an easy procedure.

This is the fourth eye-related surgery Paterson has had in six weeks. On May 20, he was admitted to Mount Sinai for "migraine-like symptoms" which were actually caused by a glaucoma on his left eye. Paterson is legally blind, with only partial vision in his right eye.

Paterson spent yesterday recovering in his Harlem home. He still plans on marching in the Gay Pride Parade on Fifth Avenue today.

More power to him. That surgery must have been scary.

Did he suddenly get an upgrade on his health insurance with his new position or something?

Maybe he wants to see better so he doesn't run off to the Motel 6 with another skank.

The cost of the surgery probably came from the amazon.com tax.

This guy is the MAN! Not only is he blind, but he's the governor, has the ability to have an affair as well as juggle his marriage and brushes off major surgery like it was nothing. And, he supported Congestion Pricing.

He seemed totally fine in the interview (you can see it here)--I was impressed.

Although Patterson is a career politician, he is an infinitely likable, affable, self effacing diplomat. What a refreshing change of pace from the hypocrisy pocked 'steamroller'.
