- The woman who was killed by her estranged husband at a Montclair, NJ YMCA had a restraining order against him.
- A man imprisoned since 1994 for the stabbing murder of James Abbott Jr. in Far Rockaway had his conviction overturned by a Queens judge this week. Upon hearing that he would be freed, Kareem Bellamy fell from his chair in the courtroom and just stayed on the floor.
