Pizza Calling: The Clash Land on Punk Pizza Boxes

062608pizzaclash.jpgSome months ago the guys behind the bars Bowery Electric and Niagara took over the hole-in-the wall Pizza Shop on Avenue A and 7th Street (right by Niagara). They renovated it to give it an old school pizza parlor vibe, started showing kung fu and surf movies in the back, and brought in chef Kevin Cole (Two Boots, Three of Cups) to oversee pie production. Now they’re kicking it up a notch with limited edition, rock ‘n’ roll pizza boxes; the first set of 1,500 features a photo of The Clash given to them by photographer Bob Gruen. Up next: The Ramones, of course.

Seeing as this Saturday will mark the 15th anniversary of his untimely passing, I hope this establishment will have a G.G. Allin pizza box to mark the occasion.

That place took over Sal's which had to move down the street to a smaller place bastards

I thought they were trying to tie the pizza shop in with the Joe Strummer mural on the Niagra Bar's wall. *shrug*

Still, it's cheezy as all hell - no pun intended har har.

JMH--are you from OHIO?

Yay--hope the rest of EV reverts back to what once it used to be.

Baaahahahahahahahahahaa....

That place used to be Sal's. It had awesome pizza that was dirt cheap.

What happened to Sal's? Did they sell up and close shop?

Will the box be covered in feces?

Now we know why The Clash were "so booored with the U. S. A."
