Sunny and Warm Wednesday

pro-zak_grainelevator.jpgJune has been a sneaky month, temperaturewise. Aside from the four-day heat wave earlier in the month it hasn't been particularly warm or cold. However, the month may still wind up as one of the ten warmest June's on record. Helping out on that quest will be a stretch of warm weather until the end of the week. Today is a winner! Sunny, warm and dry with a high around 85.

Humidity returns tomorrow, and along with it a chance of showers or thunderstorms. It is too soon to say with any confidence but it is possible that the storms tomorrow evening could be severe. Tomorrow's high should be in the upper 80s. The high may approach 90 on Friday as winds along the back side of a high pressure system continues to pull air up from the south. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible.

The atmosphere sort of grinds to a depressing halt over the weekend. Saturday should still be warm and humid. A cold front is expected to slowly drift southward during the day, bringing yet another round of showers. Once the front stalls to the south of the city winds will shift to the east, meaning a cool, cloudy, drizzly, showery Sunday.

hopefully "Today's Weather" becomes a regular gothamist feature, for those who don't have windows.
