very often the 'production value' is exactly what's wrong with that show. the raw early shows are classics in their entirety. rip george and andy, and if we're lucky this new andy will join them soon, he just plain sucks.

I must be missing some essential entertainment chromosomes or something because I feel like the only person on earth who doesn't think being a total wackjob makes one a comedic genius. The genius of Andy Kaufman is that he had everyone believing he was a total wackjob, when in reality he knew exactly what he was doing in his manipulation of everyone around him, including the mass media and mainstream public.

Nifty. I've seen this. I'll DVR and ffwd over the Andy Kaufman parts. I am at a total loss as to why people think Andy Kaufman is entertaining, let alone funny. I've seen Ep 1 a few times before and if you can get past the utter lack of production values its very funny. Every time I see those old episodes it makes the new ones look very depressing.
