I don't believe the couple is actually broken up. The break-up announcement came very shortly before news of the charges against him; I think it was her people who encouraged her to "break-up" with him so she'd be distanced from him during this mess. Surely she was interviewed by the FBI and had a heads-up on this whole mess. I bet they're still together, just biding their time.
