Fatal Lower East Side Shooting Leaves Teen Dead

The body of a 17-year-old boy was found outside 205 Eldridge Street (near Stanton) earlier this morning. He had a gunshot wound in the head and was pronounced dead at Bellevue. Witnesses said they heard shots around 2 a.m. A motive is not known at this time.

The corner of Eldridge and Stanton has always been a trouble spot for the neighborhood-- the local precinct should really setup a 24/7 outpost there, the way they do in some other neighborhoods in the city.

Is that area still considered Chinatown?

That's the same block where the gun mugging / murder happens in the opening of "Lush Life." Odd...

Teenagers really need to fill out their organ donor registration so we can harvest the salvageable parts of their otherwise miserable and useless existence.

i call it echito -- east of chinatown.

i've been doing a long term documentary on the whole street (eldridge from houston to division) for the past few years. block was just kids hanging around an enclave from gentrification.
