Oh, Imus: Don Imus's New Racial Contretemps
Don Imus, who was fired from his CBS morning radio show after insulting the Rutgers' women's basketball team, is back in the spotlight today.
When Warner Wolf was discussing football player Adam "Pacman" Jones desire to drop the "Pacman" nickname (because of his many brushes with the law), Imus asks, "What color is he?" To which his sidekick says, "He's African-American." Then Imus said, "Well, there you go. Now we know."
While some wonder if this was another racist remark from the curmudgeonly radio personality, Imus told the NY Times, “I meant he was being picked on because he’s black." Imus added, "that Dick Gregory, a veteran comedian and activist who is black, would be a guest on his show on Tuesday, to discuss the death of George Carlin" and that he'd see what Gregory thought. The Reverend Al Sharpton said the remarks were "disturbing because it plays into stereotypes."

I can't believe anyone would put this dinosaur on the air. Imus' ratings are lower than Curtis Sliwa and Ron Kuby's radio show that preceded him on WABC. What he says isn't even worth talking about. Don't give this guy any publicity.

Imus is an idiot, and obviously didn't learn anything the first time around. He can try to defend himself, but the issue isn't whether there is anything inherently wrong with asking "what color is he?"
The issue is that Imus apparently didn't see an issue by asking that question, despite his recent termination for racial remarks. Maybe he's a racist, maybe he's just too old and set in his ways, but I think this may be the end of the road.

Have followed the thread for the past day & held off from responding to the trolling.
But, having observed during that time, and in the interest of reducing discord on this board, I would like to start the "Let's all chip in and get Bingo an MRI (with particular attention to the Frontal Lobes) Fund". Such mentation is likely not chemical, but structural. The monomaniacal, hyperaggressive, impulse-control deficient display strongly indicates structural frontal lobe dysfunction. The speech centers appear intact, but the fixation upon the "Cr-ck-er" word are disturbing. Somewhat like the "N" word. Upon completion of the MRI I will fire up the Dremel & volunteer to perform the needed surgical correction. Haven't done Neurosurg in years, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
