  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: multiple pedestrians struck at 35 Tennis Ct. in Brooklyn, a construction worker fell at E30th St. and Roosevelt in Manhattan, and a dog attack on Harbor Rd. in Staten Island.
  • One doesn't have to be a fair weather fan to decide that sometimes it's fun to come out of the rain. Especially if one is a fed-up Mets fan, who can catch a Cyclones game right beside the boardwalk.
  • A judge delayed sentencing in a police corruption case that involved cops running a protection racket for a city whorehouse, when accusations arose that the crooked uniforms were also planting drugs on suspects and stealing cash from gambling operations.
  • A taxi driver blocked traffic on Park Ave.--with a fare sitting in the back seat--to help usher a gaggle of goslings crossing against the light.
  • One large inexplicable step for subway-going mankind in Queens.
  • A number of people from Brooklyn's gay community--and presumably people who are simply against homophobia in their neighborhoods--marched in Bushwick, Brooklyn to protest anti-gay violence in the borough.
  • What oil shortage? The Mud Pit of Death in Williamsburgh, Brooklyn has been renamed the Berry Oil Pit after black gold was discovered in them thar' construction sites.
  • One week and counting 'til the end of Florent. Eater photographer Daniel Krieger is documenting the final weeks of the 24-hour Meatpacking eatery in installments. Monsieur Morellet will thankfully remain part of NYC forever.
