Anyone who injures or kills a pedestrian with a car should have their license suspended pending an investigation. If they were at fault (running a red light, speeding, etc), their license should be revoked permanantly and the driver should face criminal charges including jail time.

Spiritof76: I don't know why I thought Estebannie was a woman, so thanks for that correction. And yes, the owner should lose his SUV. In the wrong hands, an SUV (or any car for that matter) is obviously an instrument of death -- so why would you lend it to someone who doesn't necessarily know how to drive??

I don't think the guy knew how to drive a car. his friend probably assumed he could at least pull up to the curb a bit without problem. after all it's just a little touch on the gas, if that. it's not like he was asking him to parallel park in midtown during rush hour.

Gwinny, Sanchez was a man and he didn't own the SUV. A friend lent it to him. A friend who should lose the car anyway, if you ask me. Maybe immediate confiscation is the only way to teach people not to lend cars to unlicensed drivers. Hopefully, that'll be one good thing about high gas prices. It may get a lot of these wasteful SUVs and pickup trucks off the road. And with luck, take a lot of bad drivers off the road with them.

Um TSOL you have to take a driver's test to get a license. Spitzer wasn't recommending that people bypass the system, you know. Or maybe you are joking? The link for "Estebannie Sanchez" pops to an ad for the Toyota Highlander SUV. Talk about bad product placement! Hope they throw the book at this idiot and her fucking SUV.
