Summer Starts Warm

Today's weather is shaping up to be the same as every previous day this week. Sunny in the morning, clouding up in the afternoon. With the clouds comes a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. For a little variety today may warm to the upper 70s.

At 7:59 EDT this evening the sun will be directly over the Tropic of Cancer somewhere in the Pacific Ocean (where the local time will be noon). That astronomical alignment marks the summer solstice. What better way to start summer than with a hot and steamy Saturday! Tired of the recent cool spell, the Bermuda High will exert itself westward tomorrow. The first full day of summer should be sunny, warm and humid with a high in the mid to upper 80s, which is perfect for watching mermaids parade.

The blast of warmth looks short-lived. Sunday is likely to be showery and thunderstormy. Expect a high in the upper 70s. Rain may linger into Monday but overall next week promises to be mostly sunny and mild.
