Her debut album appeared just six weeks ago, but this summer’s already shaping up to be a big one for Santogold (myspace), the suddenly red-hot pop/dub/hip hop fusion artist from Brooklyn (by way of Philly). She’ll be headlining Central Park Summerstage, opening for some of Coldplay’s dates in the U.S., and joining an ad campaign for the 100th Anniversary of Converse sneakers (The blitz kicked off recently with a new song she made with with Pharrell Williams and Julian Casablancas from the Strokes.)
But first things first: another music video. While the eyes of the world were on the opening of the Red Hook Ikea yesterday, Santogold and her crew were busy just a stone’s throw away on Van Brunt Street. It’s not clear what song this is for, but from the photos one guesses it has to do with pedaling a pimped-out bicycle through a cocaine windstorm, something her fanbase won't have a problem identifying with.

So quickly becoming a nobody
yeah, i give her 4 more months.
gotta love the young buck tank-top, though.
L.E.S. Artistes = Song of the year!
There have been a RIDICULOUS number of posts about Ikea lately. What gives? Is Gothamist sponsored by Ikea now? Why all the free advertising?
to #4: Ikea is obviously the new Shake Shack.
because, as with anything in New York, if you hate something you must talk about it incessantly.
Word up on that girl in the Ray Bans. She's like so Valley Girl Ghetto hottie.
