The Post reports the IRS has sent "a flurry of subpoenas to [the] most generous corporate donors" of Reverend Al Sharpton's non-profit, National Action Network. Sharpton told the Post, "I think that this is a clear, transparent political investigation, because if they started an investigation in December, why would they be subpoenaing people after December unless they are on a fishing expedition?"

Can't you still subpoena people after you start investigating??
Yeah seems by Al's comment he has no idea what he's talking about as far as investigations go. You don't start sending subpoenas out until *after* the investigation has started. That's what an investigation is. Maybe he thought if he threw the word "political" out there that people would just stop reading right there.
you can subpoena people before, during and after and investigation.
