Someone hasn't really looked at the bullpen results over the period that "the lineup is scoring again." Last night's game notwithstanding, the bullpen has been pretty impressive for the most part over the past few weeks.

Mets' record in 2008 under Willie Randolph when trailing after 8 innings: 1-30 Mets' record in 2008 under Jerry Manuel when trailing after 8 innings: 1-1 This means nothing, of course; a sample size of two games isn't enough to make any judgments. I continue to find it astonishing that the bizarre manner of Willie's firing has completely overshadowed the fact that it was entirely deserved based on the team's poor performance down the stretch last year and into the beginning of this year.

Eventually Manuel's Mets would win a game just like Willies would. The manager isn't the right issue.
