Students Send Teachers to Hospital with Laxative Cake
Teachers at the Brooklyn School for Global Studies in Boerum Hill were on the receiving end of a student prank that resulted in arrests and hospitalizations last week. When three seniors at the high school offered their teachers some slices of homemade cake, nobody suspected the students, which included a straight-A student, of filling the baked goods with laxatives as a zany end-of-the-year gag.
Teacher Danilo Dungca took a bite, and tells the Daily News what happened next:
It tasted like someone sprayed hairspray in my mouth. I spit it out. That's when my lips and my tongue went numb. It had red chunks that looked like cherries, but they were bitter. I spit it out....My mouth was numb. I got sick. I went to the bathroom.And after that, the E.R.! A second teacher also ended up in the hospital later with “breathing problems.” The students had assured the teachers that the red chunks inside the cake filling were candy, but they were actually Dulcolax tablets. Hilarious, right?
Doctors said the teachers’ symptoms were “consistent with insecticide poisoning,” and the News reports additional rumors that students had also sprayed the cake with Raid. What happened to just slipping a razor blade into the apple you leave for teacher? The Health Department tested the cake and found no poisons, but the laxatives were enough for police to consider charging the three students – who are now suspended and prohibited from attending their graduation – with assault.

Worst idea ever! And the kid in the Daily News article, who is friends with one of the pranksters and says "Nobody's died from a laxative," I bet he wouldn't say that if he was on the receiving end.

Although it was a stupid prank, denying them entry into college for such a stunt would be just as dumb. These kids should really be charged with stupidity for not using chocolate ex-lax.

Did you skip part of the article's last sentence? The penalty -- so far -- is being barred from attending graduation, being suspended, and being arrested with charges pending.

The whole joke is 40 years ago. Ex-lax cookies. But the point was the chocolate ex-lax was like chips. These kids are idiots, they couldn't even get that right. If it was in fact sprayed with Raid though - that's just psycho and those kids need some serious punishment.
As a teacher, I would never eat anything some kid gave me.

We did it all the time at my school and aside from a few additional "teachable moments" on the pot, the targets of our churlish scorn "came through" just fine. These kids today are just a worthless bunch of spoiled amateurs. No professionalism whatsoever in their pranks. Where's the restraint? Where's the pride?

I'll tell you what! When I was in public school it didn't take a rocket scientist to be a grade A student due to the school's policy of upgrading students to make the grade average high and make the school look good.
Maybe that's why a straight A student isn't what you'd think he or she should be these days. Maybe the school has an integrity problem they haven't been forced to face till now.
Just so you know, I think public schools suck. I was a straight A student myself, in that garbage system. It was easy, and boring.

This story is too funny, it finally took a dumb prank like this to put a school I graduated from over 10 years ago on the map, good for them, but HOW stupud, everyone knows you slip the exlax works best.
