- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: A gas leak with evacuations near Crotona Ave & E 182 St in the Bronx, a serious trauma at Spring & 6th in Manhattan and an armed perp at PS 108 in Brooklyn.
- An Italian tourist fought off a knife-wielding attacker by grabbing the knife by the blade; she told the Post, "I preferred to be without fingers instead of dying."
- Yuppie-hating East Villagers, don't blame Bruno (aka Bruce Willis) for gentrifying the hood with the Bowery Wine Company--he isn't even an owner, just a celebrity who was nice enough to lend his name to the real owners!
- Lawmakers and the airline industry don't think the Bush administration's plan to auction air space will work.
- Sure, Tim Russert's funeral was today, but Gawker digs up an old Vanity Fair piece written by his wife Maureen Orth that might be why Arianna Huffington hates Russert.

- Apparently Anne Hathaway's dad didn't approve of her ex-boyfriend, the Italian dude with the questionable finances.=
- And Alain Robert, who climbed the NY Times Building two weeks ago, climbed a building in Frankfurt, Germany today. But since the Dresdner Bank was not built to look exactly like a ladder, Robert wore a harness.
