Pencil This In

061708kingkong.jpgTHEATER: The audiophiles who make up Radiotheatre are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the first King Kong film by reviving their aural homage on Tuesday nights in June. Using contemporary technology to create a lavish sound design that, er, apes the old-timey radio aesthetic, the show is a lush treat for the ears, though not so much for the eyes. But who wants to look at that hairy beast anyway? Tonight you can close your eyes and forget all about Peter Jackson. – John Del Signore

8 p.m. // The Player’s Theatre [115 MacDougal St] // $20

FILM/FOOD: The Film Food Fest has taken over town, and tonight is the Pizza Film Fest segment, held in the parking lot next to Grimaldi's. The night starts off with Brooklyn Pizza: a six-minute film on the pie-making process at Coney Island Totonno's, Di Fara, and Grimaldi's. There will also be a Grimaldi's tasting! More details here.

8:30 p.m. // 10 Old Fulton Street // Free

MUSIC: New York singer-songwriter Shwa Losben has a new cd out and will be performing songs, old and new, with his band (the Cuddlef*cks) at Rockwood Music Hall tonight. "Shwa layers guitars, bass, keyboard, cello, drums and claps, atop precise vocal harmonies" to create a "melodic and sweetly nostalgic" sound.

9 p.m. // Rockwood Music Hall [196 Allen St] // $5 suggested donation

Prior to that, head over to the Apple Store to hear the Ting Tings perform the song you heard in the iPod commercial (before Coldplay's new song took over). The show is free, get there early!

6:30 p.m. // Apple Store [103 Prince St] // Free

EVENT: Brooklyn's own Detroit Octane will be performing on Conan O'Brien and at an Obama Fundraiser tonight. The band is known for their hit "Barack Obama-sistible," and if you haven't heard it, WATCH THE VIDEO! As if hearing that song live wasn't enough -- Eugene Mirman, Heather Lawless, and Andy Blitz will all be performing and there will be a special screening of Jon Glaser’s Adult Swim pilot “Delocated.”

11:30 p.m. // Union Hall [702 Union St, Park Slope] // $20 : cash or check made out to "Obama For America"
