At a rally in Michigan, Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama picked up an endorsement from Al Gore, the former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate. Gore said, "Looking back over the last eight years, I can tell you that we have already learned one important fact since the year 2000. Take it from me, elections matter. If you think the next appointments to the Supreme Court are important, you know that elections matter.”
Gore added, "The outcome of this election will affect the future of our planet," and Obama emphasized his commitment to the environment, "When I am president. I will be counting on Al Gore to help me lead the fight for a clean energy future here in the United States and around the world.” The NY Times points out that presumptive Republican nominee John McCain "called for lifting the federal moratorium on offshore oil drilling for states that want to permit it," due to the oil crisis.
This is the second significant endorsement Obama has received in Michigan--former Senator John Edwards threw his support for Obama there last month--showing that Obama wants to quell those upset over the Michigan primary debacle. However, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's mention of Senator Hillary Clinton drew boos from crowd, which prompted Obama to declare, "I want everybody here to be absolutely clear. Senator Clinton is one of the finest public servants we have in American life today.... She is worthy of our respect. She is worthy of our honor."

Gore endorsed Obama???? I'll be damned. Next thing you know you'll tell me that the sun rises in the east.
"When I am president. I will be counting on Al Gore to help me lead the fight for a clean energy future here in the United States and around the world.”
Maybe now would be a good time for Senator Obama to lean over and whisper a question to Al Gore:
"Dude. I gotta ask. WTF are you doing in your Tennessee home that costs more than $2,000 in energy bills per month?"

What is the point of endorsing after the nomination is clinched?
Gore doesn't even have his own reelection to worry about.
"What is the point of endorsing after the nomination is clinched?"
Catch 22. He really wanted to endorse Obama but an endorsement during the Primaries would have been a major snub to Billary. This was the best course of action Gore could take.
I'm an Obama supporter and gotta say, I really like Al Gore (and, yeah, the sun rises in the east).
Gore for VP?
Why in hell would Gore consider the VP position? He's won an oscar and a nobel peace prize, and is considered the hip elder statesman of the Democratic party. Being VP will just lower his status, and besides he's already done that.
Too bad Gore didn't think his own election mattered enough to fight harder for it.
Al Gore's a pussy which is why I proudly didn't vote for him in 2000. He was the wussy 'prince who could never be king'. That's why he didn't fight harder. Because he knew.
The next Supreme Court appointments aren't all that important. Bush has already stacked the bench with younger conservatives who have the majority. It'll take a while for them to die off or retire. Even old-timer Scalia won't be gone soon. He can't have heart problems because he doesn't have a heart.
Ugh, so Obama is now being supported by that fraud LORD GORE, who keeps instilling this massive (and profitable) Global Warming HOAX. There is no such thing as MAN-MADE global warming, the earth actually has been cooling in the last 10 years.
The Man-Made Global Warming hoax is just to get you prepped up for CARBON TAX/CREDITS.
I know we all like to bust on Gore, but he did invent the Internet!
Seriously though, he did do his part in facilitating Internet access as we know it today. That, and his recent efforts in raising awareness about global warming has earned my admiration.
Just look at this guy. Prince Albert obviously 'invented' androids too.
