THEATER: Symphony Space presents the 27th annual Bloomsday on Broadway, a reading from the classic Ulysses. This year's event promises the first performance of the “Ithaca” episode’s complete, unedited text in an evening entitled “Mr. Bloom Comes Home.” The night will include readings by actors and avid Joyceans, including Stephen Colbert, Frank and Malachy McCourt, Fionnula Flanagan and Marian Seldes. Fun fact: June 16, 1904 is the most famous fictional date in literature, when Leopold Bloom walked around Dublin in the pages of James Joyce’s classic.

061608WaspCove.jpgCOMEDY: Wasp Cove coaxes explosive laughs out of the target-rich environment of high society soap operas from the ‘80s such as Dynasty. Created by Rachel Shukert and Julie Klausner, the show is staged with a big cast of comic actors as a “lost episode” from a lurid hit soap about “back-stabbing Gentiles, revenge, shoulder pads, incest, soup served at room temperature, and veal aspic.” This is Episode Two in an ongoing Wasp Cove series; it also stars multi-talented essayist David Rakoff. MUSIC: A lot of the good shows tonight are either sold out (Sigur Rós) or in Jersey (Ted Leo, Jose Gonzalez), but tickets are still on sale for Love is All at Bowery Ballroom. This is the last of the Gothenburg quintette's three shows in town; they'll be joined by opening bands Versus and Crystal Stilts.
