Helmsley's Dog Stripped of Million Dollar Inheritance
Leona Helmsley’s dog Trouble, who was famously bequeathed $12 million from the late real estate tycoon, will now have to make do on a measly $2 million, according to the Post. Helmsley had set aside the money for the care of her beloved Maltese while also disinheriting two of her grandchildren, Craig Panzirer, 40, and Meegan Panzirer Wesolko, 37, "for reasons which are known to them." The siblings have now hammered out a deal with Helmsley’s executor, having argued that the billionaire “Queen of Mean” was not of sound mind when she signed the will in 2005.
The settlement gives the two snubbed grandchildren several tax free millions – Panzirer gets $4 million, Wesolko gets $2 million – in exchange for a confidentiality agreement. $10 million will be taken from Trouble and put into Helmsley’s charitable foundation, but the dog’s primary caretaker, a general manager of the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel, says $2 million will easily cover the canine’s living expenses, which add up to approximately $190,000 a year. That includes a $60,000 guardian fee, $100,000 for 24 hour security (Trouble's gotten death threats), $8,000 for grooming, $3,000 for miscellaneous expenses, $1,200 for food and anywhere from $2,500 to $18,000 for medical care.

They're paying more on security than on the caregivers, who have constant access to the dog? Brilliant.

So Trouble's got like its own secret service. $190k/year. It must be so nice to live like that.

That is awesome that she actually cared for something other than money. Maybe she did have a heart?

Does Trouble pay income tax on her/his income? Is Trouble eligible for social security when he/she reaches 62?
Why are there two dogs shown in the above photo? Which one is the one that gets the $1,200 a year in food allowance?

Snoopy, you obviously need your eyes examined. The animal on the right isn't a dog.....it's clearly a wildebeest.

How do I get into the dog's will? Little mutts like that don't live very long. There'll be quite a bit of money left over when it croaks.

Spiritof76,
I've talked to the dog's lawyers and they tell me it's a good news / bad news situation.
Goodnews: It's quite simple to get into the dog's will. Due to the fact that dogs don't speak English or any other language and therefore cannot sign a will. Their penmanship sucks.
Badnews: All you have to do is show written proof that you had oral sex with either of them within the last three months.

This story about spoiled rich kid trustfund babies getting even more money from a dog who would be happy with a old sock truly warms my heart. Now instead of having only a single red ferrari in their driveways, they can have 2.

While I appreciate the giant snub, this waste of money makes me want to barf. $190,000 a year could do so many good things.

I have a feeling that if any money is left over it will go to the ASPCA.

that dog must be pissed!

All small dogs are pissed all the time. Otherwise they wouldn't keep yapping and biting people's ankles.
The poor dog is only allowed $3.28 a day for food and the security gets paid $273.97 a day? The dog really should get it's act together and get a better accountant. $18,000 a year in health costs? How about a decent health plan with a co-pay.
If there is a guardian at $60,000 a year why does the dog need additional security? Can't they just combine the two and call it even at $80,000? I would put a LoJack system up the dog's butt when I went to sleep and wouldn't worry about anything.

Are they hiring? I would be that dog's guardian for $60,000.

These posting are racially biased against Jews with money and how they want to spend it. Someone call Rabbi Shal and get to the bottom of this.

Now my dogs are pissed off that I can't support them in the manner they wish to be supported. Ungrateful bitches.

Where is a street sweeper when you need one?

The dog was named "Trouble." How long would a person with even a love for dogs put up with the little shit?

$500 standing offer for "Trouble's" freshly skinned carcass so I can toss it over a fence to some waiting turtles.

Sony that is so cruel. Let me throw in another $200 to the effort.
