THEATER: If think the whole pirate thing is so over, it must be because you haven’t yet seen Jollyship the Whiz-Bang, the delirious pirate puppet rock musical currently marauding through Ars Nova. Backed up by a rollicking onstage band, the hilarious story concerns a hardcore party pirate and his unfulfilled dream of delivering his crew to the elusive Party Island, “where the rum flows down the valley twixt salt taffy mountains.” The lavish two act spectacle is pure escapist fun, pulled off with a savvy, black comedy panache. Read the full review and break out your best puffy shirt. – John Del Signore
