...had things gone on any longer it could have been a hipster massacre!

You say that like it's a bad thing.

i was a the death cab for cutie show in mccarren pool - they actually got in about 95% of the show, and then all of a sudden it looked like the apocalypse was about to descend on us. people were actually booing when the band ran off the stage...come on! a pit in the middle of flat terrain filled with people and thousands of pounds of electrical equipment, not to mention giant swinging lights in what had to be at least 40 mph winds. had things gone on any longer it could have been a hipster massacre!

yesterday was creepy war of the worlds shit. It was hot and muggy, and foggy and windy and lightningy, and thundery and the wind caused all the pollen and leaves to swirl about. It was like that scene in poltergeist where the girl opens the door and the rapture is in the background.

Up here on 106th and Broadway, a whole mess of limbs fell down - one car was completely trapped and the owner had no idea what to do. I advised him to call 311, but he didn't seem so keen on that. Still, it was pretty cool to see all my neighbors - most of whom I had never met - gathering around and discussing the damage with strangely excited smiles. Acts of God are always good for bringing a community together - well, unless, you know, it kills and injures something other than a Subaru.
