Today is supposed to be the hottest day of the this week's heat wave. Temperatures are expected to go over the 100-degree mark (though there are some predictions of of 97-degrees), and with the humidity, it may feel like it's 105 degrees.

The heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. tonight and city cooling centers are open in all five boroughs (also: suggestions for beating the heat). Tomorrow is also supposed to be a scorcher, at 96 degrees, but things will get better starting on Wednesday, with an expected high of 86 degrees (Thursday and Friday are supposed to be in the mid-80s).

So with this weather, there come the power outages, and apparently Con Ed is dealing with outages in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. And some Brooklyn residents still don't have power after yesterday's manhole fire.

Remember to save your grocery receipts. If you don't use them for spoilage reimbursement his summer, you can burn them in winter to offset the price of natural gas ;)
