I have eaten lunch twice at Red Egg this past week. And I am more than satified with the food and the service on both occassions.

Every dim sum dish was fresh and steaming hot. We also ordered #24 on the larger menu. It was a curry chicken/crab dish served in a hollowed out large bread roll. Delicious!

The decor of Red Egg is Western, none of that flowerly red and green trashy looking dragons that you would find at some of the other places in Chinatown.

I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. And most importantly, I was able to have a civilized meal. I didn't need a megaphone to have a conversation with my friends!

I have lived in Chinatown for 38 years and I am so happy that a place like this has finally opened.

I will definitely be going back to Red Egg for dim sum and dinner.

I highly recommend Red Egg and this is coming from a Cantonese person that has tried every resturant in Chinatown!

Mei Lai Wah??? Ten years ago, Mei Lai Wah was one of the best coffee houses in Chinatown. But the service and the food has gradually done down, to the point where the old men that work there are slow and rude. It's almost as if they didn't want to serve you. So I was very glad that the health department shut them down!

That's Chinatown? Damn. Getting too damn slick and upscale for my taste. Give me the Chinatown of old, like the departed Mei Lai Wah.
