It'll never happen. The NIMBYists will block any effort to assemble a right of way for high speed trains. If it was maglev, they'd complain about the magnetic fields causing cancer. On the bright side, this should clear up some of the congestion at the big three airports.

amen, jmh. when you factor the appropriately sized toothpaste containers, security screening, and getting to the airport, taking the DC or Boston shuttle has to be one of the most unproductive, least time efficient, and most annoying things to do in life. they don't even have that many free magazines anymore!

This has been coming for a while now. We need to focus on developing intercity rail infrastructure for short and medium trips so that airlines can focus on the longer flights that are what they're best at.
