Maybe MLB can sidetrack some of their million$ spent on junk like this and donate funds towards creating new public parks, for all the land that the new Yankee Stadium has displaced. That would be much more welcome by New Yorkers.

Actually, they are doing Statue of Liberties for all teams--I just put up a gallery of the NY ones, plus the Red Sox one. But they are all pretty scary.

If they were doing this for ALL teams, I would understand the reason for creating a Red Sox statuette. But, since Lady Liberty is in our city, and the rest of the decorative stautettes all refer to NY baseball teams, why would they do that?!
